Swimming finishes season undefeated
On Saturday, the No. 5 MIT men’s swimming and diving team battled the No. 16 Lord Jeffs of Amherst College in the Zesiger Center Pool. Amherst held the score close early in the meet, but MIT hit their stride and cruised to a 174-124 victory, locking up their second undefeated season in Institute history.

The MIT Swimming and Diving teams dominated Tufts University this weekend to remain undefeated. The men’s team swept the 200 backstroke, with freshmen Brendan F. Liu ’13, Brendan T. Deveney ’13 and Ron Rosenberg ’13 racking up first, second and third respectively. Deveney also earned fourth in the 200 butterfly. Co-captain Rastislav Racz ’10 won the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and contributed to a MIT win in the 400 medley relay with teammates Rosenberg, Toomas R. Sepp ’11 and Luke R. Cummings ’10.
MIT Track and Field Routs Opponents In First Meet of Season
In its season opening meet, the MIT Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams took on Bates and Colby Saturday afternoon.
Ski Team Sets Personal Records at Weekend Slaloms
MIT Skiing had its first weekend of slalom racing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a two-day carnival at Cranmore followed by the non-league Tecnica Cup at Gunstock. The new club team’s diligence in training has paid off; though the Women’s and Men’s teams again finished 10th and 9th in their respective divisions, every MIT finisher had the best or second best slalom race of their career this weekend.
The Blazers, Boston’s Lacrosse Team, Lose Season Opener Sat.
The Boston Blazers of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) fell to the Toronto Rock in their 2010 season opener at TD Garden on Saturday, 17-7.

On Friday night, MIT hosted Wheaton College in a NEWMAC swimming and diving dual meet. Both the men’s and women’s teams won easily to remain undefeated on the year.
Skiing Races in First Competition as Club Sport; Sees Progress
In its first season as a club sport, MIT’s Alpine Ski Team is already back to business [almost] as usual. The team lives in New Hampshire during IAP, training four days a week and racing two days a week in a season of ten intercollegiate carnivals comprising five giant slalom and five slalom races. While the division scores 3 women and 5 men, MIT has fielded 2 women and 4 men and so receives a penalty in their team results for every race. Despite the difficult team circumstances, every individual member has already made personal improvements since the 2009 season.
Members of MIT Debate Team Win National and Int’l Awards
For their fourth consecutive year, the duo of Kathleen A. Clark-Adams ’10 and Adam J. Goldstein ’10 have been winning significant awards for the MIT Debate Team on a circuit that emphasizes political, public policy related, and philosophical topics. Similarly, Goldstein and Bill H. Magnuson G have had enormous success at international tournaments, which use the British Parliamentary (BP) format of debate.
Harvard Hands First Loss <br />To Men’s Basketball Brown Collects All-America, <br />ECAC Accolades
MIT Men’s basketball suffered its first loss of the season last week, 88-61 to Harvard. The Engineers, ranked number 22 nationally, fell to 11-1.
